Two men charged in smash-and-grab burglary at CT stereo shop

Two men were arrested and charged in connection with a smash-and-grab burglary at an audio store on the Berlin Turnpike in January, police said.

Pasquale Sanseverino, 49, and Michal Rivera, 42, were taken into custody on an arrest warrant, according to the Newington Police Department.

The arrests stem from an investigation into a burglary which occurred in the early morning hours of Jan. 14 at New England Audio and Tinting, located at 2441 Berlin Turnpike in Newington.

A police officer discovered the broken windows at the business while on patrol just before 2 a.m., police said.

According to police, the two men allegedly drove a car through the windows hours just before 11 p.m. The men then entered the store multiple times and loaded up the car with stolen stereo equipment, police said.

Newington detectives performed an extensive investigation which lead to the identification of Rivera and Sanseverino, according to police.

Rivera was arrested Monday and charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of conspiracy to committ third-degree burglary, second-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny, first-degree criminal mischief and conspiracy to commit first-degree criminal mischief. He was being held on a $100,000 bond and was arraigned on Tuesday, police said.

Sanseverino was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of conspiracy to committ third-degree burglary, second-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny, first-degree criminal mischief and conspiracy to commit first-degree criminal mischief. He was also being held on a $100,000 bond and was arraigned on Thursday, according to police.
