As if Steph Curry’s trophy case wasn’t full enough he’s now going to need room for at least one more.

The two-time MVP was named the 2023-24 Cluth Player of the Year, the NBA announced on Thursday. And if you were unsure, the league defines clutch time as the final five minutes of a game separated by a margin of five points or less.

Curry played in 43 clutch-time games this season, averaging 4.4 points in those crucial instances which was tied for second-best in the entire league behind DeMar DeRozan who finished second in voting.

The All-NBA guard scored 189 total points in the clutch this season, leading the NBA, as the Golden State Warriors went 23-20 through those games. And to no one’s surprise, Curry, the best three-point shooter of all time led the league in clutch threes made (32) this season. More than double the second-best total of 13 threes made in the clutch by Damian Lillard and Buddy Hield.

On the season Curry finished with averages of 26.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.1 assists.

Meanwhile, Canada’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder finished in third place.

Curry is just the second player to win Clutch Player of the Year, as the award was introduced last season with De’Aaron Fox taking home the inaugural trophy.

More to come.
