Watch Toomer’s Corner get rolled as Auburn wins SEC Tournament championship

Neither the Florida Gators, nor the elements could stop Auburn fans from rolling Toomer’s Corner.

Johni Broome scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as No. 12 Auburn won the Tigers’ third SEC Tournament championship by beating Florida 86-67 on Sunday.

Despite the rain, fans – as seen in the video above – took to the timeless tradition of rolling Toomer’s Corner.

The Tigers (27-7) avoided the upset bug that took out the SEC’s top three seeds in Friday’s quarterfinals, leaving them as the highest seed still standing. They never trailed in the final, adding titles to those won in 1985 and 2019 and earning a second under coach Bruce Pearl.

Denver Jones scored 11 points for Auburn. Chad Baker-Mazara added 10 before going to the bench along with Broome and getting a standing ovation with two minutes left.

The current set of trees were planted in 2017 in a long process of repairing a college football landmark since a 2010 poisoning. In January, in the hours after news broke of legendary Alabama coach Nick Saban being set to retire, Auburn fans flung toilet paper on the branches to celebrate.

In August, Auburn University announced the pair of replacement live oaks at Toomer’s Corner, which were planted in February of 2017, were fit for rolling with celebratory toilet paper.

The set of oaks is the second set of replacements for the original Auburn Oaks, which stood tall for more than 50 years before being lethally poisoned by herbicide in early 2011.
