GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) – The water is back on for residents living at one Greensboro apartment complex.
Some people at Four Seasons Villas said they’ve been without water for weeks. It wasn’t until our FOX8 reporters started asking questions that work began to get the water turned back on.
The part of the faucet that controls the stream needs replacing in many of the showers and sinks before the water will be ready to be used. Greensboro Code Enforcement officers will inspect each of the affected units.
Work crews tell us the water is brown and unusable for now. There is a lot of work to be done both inside and outside the units.
The parking lot is dug up. Crews had to get access to the broken water line. They began work Tuesday to cover it back up.
People living at the complex are frustrated with the entire situation. Some people said they’ve been without water for as long as three weeks. Many started getting water from the fire hydrants to flush their toilets.
Tenants told FOX8 the people who run the property were giving them about two gallons of water per day, but they don’t think it’s enough. Some spent their own money buying more.
“I spent probably about a good $50 to $60 so far on water alone,” said Dorian Hunter, who’s lived at the complex for about three years.
People have spent hundreds of more dollars on other necessities.

“I have to buy fast food,” said Tymane Marion. “I’ve spent over hundreds of dollars on fast food because I have no water to wash my dishes or to cook, can’t wash off vegetables.”
This is a private water line break, so the responsibility does not fall on the city.
The city’s code enforcement office first received complaints about this on February 9, which was more than a week after the leasing company says the water main break happened. The city posted a condemnation Monday morning.
