The Investigative Committee of the Holy Synod, which examines the sexual-economic scandal which broke out in Saint Avvakum Monasterycontinues today to receive statements from witnesses, some of whom belong to the Diocese of Tamasos and Orini.

As philenews is informed, due to the fact that some of yesterday’s statements contained elements that needed further examination and deepening, some of yesterday’s witnesses were called to testify today or to respond to clarifications or even to clarify some issues that have been raised in the framework of the work of the investigative committee.

It is noted that from the content of the depositions, in some cases it is deemed necessary to summon those named by witnesses, as a certain expansion of the list of all those originally scheduled to testify was observed. This is expected, but it prolongs the whole process.

In addition to the statements given by witnesses from the environment of Tamasos Metropolis, the statements of persons who support the two monks are also of interest. And of course, the climax of the depositions is related to the depositions of the two monks on holiday from the Monastery of Saint Avvakum. If new evidence or gaps arise from them, witnesses who have already testified will obviously be called again.

As it is known, the first to testify was Metropolitan Tamasou Isaias, who described the facts in detail from his own point of view and now the version of the two monks remains to be heard before the Commission of Inquiry. From the content of the depositions of the two monks, it is not excluded that a supplementary deposition may be requested from the Metropolitan.
