Many iconic characters are introduced in the games created by none other than Hidetaka Miyazaki. He is a renowned director responsible for creating successful video game titles such as Bloodborne and Elden Ring, however, there are times when he is not able to do anything to decide the fate of what happens in the storyline himself.
Revealing one such incident, the director, in an interview with FuturePress via Bloodborne Wiki, disclosed how he wished to save one such character from her end in Bloodborne, but was not able to do it because nobody agreed with him at the time.
How FromSoft Refused Hidetaka Miyazaki From Saving A Character In Bloodborne
When asked in the aforementioned interview if there were any other possible outcomes for Losefka in the story, where she would be safe and doesn’t face her unfortunate end, Hidetaka Miyazaki replied:
“That… Well, what should I say? Let’s just say that I tried to make one, but the rest of the studio was against it (laughs). That’s not too removed from the truth, and it also has the side effect of keeping me safe from them!”
The director unveiled how he intended and attempted to make a story where the character would eventually survive, however, the other team members did not approve of the same. It is ultimately the reason why there was not another ending to her character in the storyline, one where she would be fortunate enough to survive.
Miyazaki further in the same interview mentions how he faced the same issue during the development of Dark Souls. He struggled with figuring out what to do with the character of Sif, the Great Gray Wolf, and remembers it being a great hassle.
Hidetaka Miyazaki Refuses To Take Full Credit For The Success Of His Video Games
Despite being the mastermind behind the blooming success of FromSoftware, The renowned director has refused to take full credit for the super successful titles such as Elden Ring and other productions. He revealed how he enjoys working with others as a team and finds true joy in the same.
He mentioned how his opinion is not absolute when it comes to developing a game, as witnessed in the form of an example above. He respects and views the opinions of others when it comes to making a game and its storyline, which is part of the reason why he is able to create such great games.
Despite other developers around him, Hidetaka Miyazaki has majorly collaborated with none other than George RR Martin, who wrote the backstory for Elden Ring. The director revealed in an interview how Martin’s greatest contribution was the introduction of heroic characters, and it is what we believe Miyazaki will use once again in the coming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
