In the same vein as his defense 82-year-old grandfather Chrysantho, who was sentenced to an immediate two-and-a-half-year prison term for shooting a would-be thief who entered his property, the Legal Service says.

Proceedings before the appellate court were set this morning for a first appearance. On behalf of the Prosecutor’s Office, Assistant Prosecutor Savvas Angelidis appeared, who stated to the Court of Appeal, among other things, that the sentence imposed on the accused it is not overtly exaggeratednoting however that the sentence should have been suspended and the Legal Service does not object to a suspended sentence.

Mr. Angelidis also mentioned that the suspension is justified of the sentence to the 82-year-old convict, taking into account the serious health problems he is facing.

The appellate judiciary invited the 82-year-old’s defense attorney, Maria Neophytou, to submit her diagram regarding the suspension. It should be noted that in view of the statement of the Assistant Attorney General, the 82-year-old’s defense attorney withdrew the first ground of appeal, as to the amount of the penalty imposed. The Court of Appeal set the case next week for buyouts from the 82-year-old’s defense.

It should be noted that the 82-year-old grandfather Chrysanthos was also presented in the process.
