FOXBORO — Patriots coach Bill Belichick wouldn’t name a starting quarterback Tuesday morning, but early signs point to Mac Jones.
Jones took the majority of reps during initial drills at practice Tuesday afternoon, when he and backup Bailey Zappe took turns throwing to wide receivers and tight ends. Undrafted rookie Malik Cunningham, presently on the practice squad, did not run a route, however. Third-string Will Grier offers another option under center.
The Patriots also practiced with a full roster for the first time in weeks.
Left tackle Trent Brown was back after missing the team’s trip to Germany and only practice last week. Brown dealt with an ankle injury and personal situation that kept him out of the Pats’ last two games. Running back/wide receiver Ty Montgomery returned to practice after sitting out last week.
The Patriots are expected to release their first injury report of the week Wednesday evening.
