Vandalism: At 11:30 p.m., multiple suspects entered the Saratoga High School campus on Herriman Avenue and broke a vending machine’s glass partition. The total amount of damage was about $2,300.

March 18

Identity theft: At 9 a.m., the victim was depositing a check at an ATM at Bank of America on Big Basin Way when two suspects approached the victim, used a ruse to cause a distraction, swapped the victim’s debit card with a fake one and then withdrew $7,000 from the victim’s bank account.

Residential burglary: Between 4:46 p.m. and 5:04 p.m., someone entered a residence in the 18000 block of Devon Avenue through an unlocked door and stole electronics and gift cards for a total loss valued at approximately $1,010.

Shoplifting: At 5:38 p.m., three suspects entered Safeway in the Argonaut Center on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road and stole merchandise valued at approximately $422.

March 19

Check fraud: A school booster organization reported that someone obtained two mailed checks, then forged altered copies, which were cashed for a loss totaling approximately $4,356.

Identity theft: A Saratoga resident reported that someone used their personal information to file a tax return, which the IRS flagged for possible identity theft. A stop was placed on the return, and no financial loss was reported.

March 20

Vehicle burglary: Between 5 p.m. on March 19 and 9 a.m. on March 20, someone broke through a window of a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence in the 20000 block of Carniel Avenue. It is unknown if anything was stolen from the vehicle.

Identity theft: A student at Saratoga High School on Herriman Avenue reported a prior theft. An investigation revealed another student took the victim’s debit card from their wallet, took a picture of the card, then used the debit card information to make fraudulent purchases totaling approximately $200.

Residential burglary: Between 7 a.m. and 10:30 p.m., someone entered a residence in the 19000 block of Charters Avenue by breaking a rear sliding glass door. It is unknown if anything was stolen from the residence.

Assault with a deadly weapon: At 11:23 a.m., deputies responded to a call from school officials at Prospect High School on Prospect Road on report of a prior assault and battery incident. An investigation revealed the suspect hit a student in the head with a metal bat in the school’s parking lot. The suspect was arrested.
