A Russian military aircraft has crashed into the sea off the port of Sevastopol in Crimea, the country’s appointed Moscow district governor.

The pilot exited the aircraft in time before the crash, using the ejection system. He was picked up by paramedics and is safe.

There was no damage to residential areas, Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozaev said.

Earlier, Russian Telegram channels reported that a Russian Su-35 fighter jet crashed near Sevastopol. It is not yet clear what caused the crash.
