U.S. marshals help find 35 missing children in northern Ohio

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The U.S. Marshals Service located 35 missing children from across northern Ohio.

“Operation We Will Find You” worked to find children missing from Cleveland, Toledo, Akron, Canton, Youngstown and surrounding cities and counties. Authorities also found children in California, West Virginia and Arizona. The operation went from March 1 to May 15.

Authorities believed the children were in danger, and most were faced with physical and sexual abuse, neglect, substance abuse or human trafficking.

Northern Ohio was one of the 16 selected regions chosen to participate in the operation. The operation involved federal, state and local investigators.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott applauded the officers’ efforts.

“The main objective of ‘Operation We Will Find You’ was to find as many critically missing children as possible,” Elliott said.

“The epidemic of missing children in our country needs a spotlight. It needs our focus. We hope operations like this sharpen that focus. Every child deserves a safe environment to grow up in, and we are dedicated to helping provide that for the children and families in northern Ohio.”
