Who was Annabel Giles?

Annabel Claire Giles was a former television and radio presenter, novelist and model.

She was born May 20, 1959, in Pontypool, Wales, and started her media career in the 1990s.

The mum’s tragic final post on social media came just weeks before her cancer diagnosis.

She was lad pictured in the months beforehand – beaming with bright red hair.

Earlier this year the mum opened up about having to sell her house after her mortgage trebled.

What did she star in?

Annabel first started in ITV show’s Razzmatazz and Night Network.

She was best known as co-presenter of ITV’s Posh Frocks and New Trousers with Sarah Greene, and had also appeared on Have I Got News For You, Through the Keyhole, and Noel’s House Party.

Anabel appeared on the 13th season of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! in 2013.

She arrived as a late arrival alongside former Strictly Come Dancing professional Vicent Simone.

Despite her late entry and after only two Bushtucker trials, Anabel became the first celebrity to leave the jungle.

In 2018 she leapt into the ITV show Our Shirley Valentine Summer

What was her cause of death?

Annabel’s loved ones tragically revealed she had been diagnosed with a brain tumour in July 2023.

She was said to have had undertaken a number of surgeries, but the “highly aggressive” cancer devastatingly took over her body in the end.

The family said in a statement: “It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the death of our incredible mother, Annabel Giles, who passed away peacefully yesterday afternoon at Martlets Hospice in Hove.

“In July, Mum was diagnosed with a stage 4 Glioblastoma, a fast-growing and highly aggressive malignant brain tumour.

“In the four months that followed, she displayed remarkable resilience and strength, despite undergoing brain surgery and countless radiotherapies.

“In her final weeks, she was passionate about raising awareness for Glioblastoma, embodying her lifelong commitment to helping others.”

Did she have a partner?

Annabel had been married to Ultravox lead singer Midge Ure.

The couple tied the knot in 1985 – but split in 1989.

In 2013, Annabel was in a relationship with a woman, but it is not known how long the relationship lasted.

Does she have children?

Annabel had two children – Molly and Ted.

The former The Wright Stuff guest had Molly with ex-husband Midge Ure.

Annabel also has another son Ted, who was born in 1998.

Molly and Ted shared the devastating news of their “incredible” mum’s death on November 21, 2023.

They said she had died the day prior.

The siblings said Annabel’s spirits remained high as she underwent multiple intense surgeries, and she kept her “quick wit until the very end”.

They said she “was truly one of a kind, an enigma to those privileged to share her life”.

Their statement continued: “True to her nature, she kept spirits high and maintained her quick wit until the very end.

“Her humour and laughter will leave us inspired to live life to the fullest, just as she always did.”

Annabel’s children asked that any donations go to Martlets Hospice, adding: “We thank you for your love and support and kindly request that you respect our privacy at this challenging time.

“In lieu of flowers or other gifts, we would be grateful for donations to Martlets Hospice, whose exceptional care was a great source of comfort throughout this journey.
